Tom Bopp is the sole owner and only inspector of HomeSpeck. He does not feel comfortable delegating this responsibility to employee/trainees. He has over 15 years of civil engineering experience. The experience comes from working in his father's consulting engineering firm in St. Louis, Bopp & Associates Inc. This engineering experience allows HomeSpeck to take some of the mystique out of engineering portion of a home inspection. An engineer is not a home inspector. Home inspections are not taught in engineering school. Engineers are taught structural engineering. They are not taught plumbing, heating/air conditioning, or electrical. If an engineer is a quality home inspector, it is because he/she has educated themselves on the subject and not because they are an engineer.
Tom Bopp has been doing pre-purchase home inspections for over 12 years. He is a member of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI), the Society of Professional Real Estate Inspectors (SPREI), the International Code Council (ICC), the Better Business Bureau and Tom Martino's exclusive referral list.
If problems are discovered that are beyond the scope of a pre-purchase home inspection, HomeSpeck will consult and/or refer to other experts in their fields. If it is a structural problem, an engineer will be recommended, any other problems will be consulted with HomeSpeck's many professional resources.
